Should You Study in the Morning or at Night?

Why do we need to stay focused in the morning? Then are there any productivity hacks to improve concentration?

The first 2-3 hours after waking up are the golden hours for our brain. When we wake up in the morning, our brains are in their cleanest state. The scattered information we collect during the day gets organized while we sleep. This makes difficult books easier to understand, and creative ideas can flow more quickly in the mornings. You will get much better results if you study new subjects or do tasks that require heavy concentration during this time.

However, even though our brains are invincible in the mornings, we can quickly lose concentration if our environment gets disturbed. So here are the four productivity hacks that will help you can stay focused in the mornings. Let’s check these good morning habits!

4 Tips to Stay Focused Longer in the Mornings

1. Set Time Limits

Running a full marathon is not about running the entire distance in a full sprint. It’s important to strategize to exert your energy in short segments.

Similarly, when you need to concentrate for a long time, it’s crucial to divide your time into shorter segments to stay focused. I suggest setting time limits for yourself. For example, your concentration will improve significantly if you aim to solve a problem in 10 minutes and use a stopwatch or timer while doing the task.

2. Check your schedule every morning

Check your schedule for the day when you wake up in the morning. Make any necessary changes if you have to. You are less likely to waste your time if you check your schedule in advance. Also, by checking your schedule frequently, you can get a sense of how much time is needed for each task. This will allow you to plan out your day more efficiently.

3. Set a departure time

If you plan on going to the library to study in the mornings, set your departure time for 8:30 am. For people who work a 9-5, leaving home 1-2 hours early to exercise or read is also an option. Setting yourself a departure time will help you to do your job within your given timeframe, allowing you to stay focused and productive.

4. Change your environment

It can be tough to resist temptations relying on willpower alone. So put yourself in an environment where you don’t have to rely on willpower.

For example, doing work at a café can be a great option. There are fewer distractions when you’re outside, and the mindless chit-chat of strangers can be better for your concentration than a place that’s too quiet. Silence can make you drowsy and make concentrating difficult because you’re more sensitive to small noises.

Another way to change your environment is to go to a place where people have the same goals as you. If everyone around you is working hard, you’ll be stimulated to do the same. By seeing other people who have accomplished what you hope to do, you’ll feel that you can do it too.
